Through A Different Lens

So a few weeks ago we took the girls to the pool. There are many water slides at our splash pad but one in particularly that my oldest daughter was excited to see this summer. It is the BIGGEST and TALLEST slide there. In past years she has gotten to learn and go on every other slide but THIS one was THE slide of the summer. She was ready to conquer it!

AND MOMMY DIDN’T HAVE HER PHONE TO CAPTURE OR TAKE A VIDEO OF THE MOMENT!!

And you know what…I was glad! Because rather than seeing the moment through my camera lenses I got to view her excitement and accomplishment through my own eyes. And it occurred to me that God designed our heart to feel our memories.

Pictures are amazing in that you can remember and see details of a photo and it helps take you back to a certain moment. But watching my daughters excited face and her smile going down that slide can never be erased. The laughter I heard and the “mommy I did it” can never be erased.

And being present in the moment was the best! Now don’t get me wrong I will always be a momma who LOVES taking photos. But I sure am going to be more intentional in being present in the moment without anything but my God given heart, mind, and soul to capture the moment. ♥️
