Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend
Did you know that the diamond is the hardest natural stone on the planet? I find this so fitting in that we symbolize the diamond ring for marriage which is the relationship that is designed by God to be the strongest and most unbreakable.
“Therefore what God joins together, let no one separate.” Mark 10:9
Again..fitting right?
But what about friendships? Those rare ones, the ones you can probably count on the fingers of your hands of certain people who hold a special place in your life. The phrase “best friends” come to mind or “besties.” But I like to call them “soul sisters.” I call them this because quite simply put, they are good for our soul. They are diamonds too.
These ”soul sisters” hold all the qualities that encompass what ordinary friendships hold, but there is one characteristic that sets them worlds apart from others…they hold you accountable to the faith.
They dig in the trenches with you. They don’t just pray FOR you, they pray WITH you. These “soul sisters” check in on you and ask how your spiritual walk is going. They are not afraid to tell you when you are off base and need redirecting towards Jesus. That is part of their requirement as a diamond. They are a part of the watering system for our spiritual encouragement.
They are able to share in our joy in such a deep way because they know the source of where the joy comes from. They are able to share in our sorrow not because they know personally of the hardship we face but they know the Savior who WILL rescue us. The hearts of soul sisters are connected by the Christ their hands serve together.
Remember back to when our parents encouraged us to choose our friends wisely. Fast forward thirty plus years and I now understand exactly why they repeated this advice over and over again. They were teaching us to find the diamonds in the rough. The rare ones, the durable ones. This treasure hunt starts out as kids but continues long into our adult lives.
So it‘s true what they say… a diamond really is a girls “BEST FRIEND.” She is rare, durable, and her light reflects differently than all the rest! Treasure the diamonds in your life. And be a diamond for someone else.
